This cover shows the application of spin-dependent effects induced by spintronics in the field of electrochemical catalysis and energy storage. The introduction of a magnetic particle with more unpaired electrons in the d-orbitals has an effect on the original orbital hybridization, energy band structure, and electronic density of states. Thereby, spin-dependent effects enhances or weakens the chemical bonding energy, accelerates charge transfer and spin electron polarization. The spin-dependent effect is a significant way to decrease the reaction energy barrier, increase the reaction rate and provide more charge storage sites in the field of electrochemical catalysis and energy storage.

This cover introduces the application of two-dimensional (2D) materials in lithium metal batteries (LMBs), focusing on constructing lithiophilic sites and artificial solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer. Due to their unique planar structure, high specific surface area, high mechanical strength, and rich surface chemistry, 2D materials are expected to achieve high performance LMBs with high stability and safety. With the continuous research of 2D materials in LMBs, it is predictable that 2D materials will have great application prospects and make a difference in high-energy-density LMBs.
